OpenAI and Box Expand Partnership, Bringing Enterprise Content Directly Into ChatGPT

Sep 13, 2026 · by Omeed · 1 reads 0 likes

OpenAI and Box have expanded their partnership so Box content now appears directly inside the ChatGPT Library and across more of the ChatGPT interface, rather than requiring a separate app or export step.

With the integration live, users can browse their Box folder hierarchy, @mention specific files for context in a chat, preview documents alongside the conversation, and trigger supported actions through the Box MCP server — all without leaving ChatGPT. Box customers separately continue to have access to OpenAI's models through Box AI for analyzing and generating content, and developers can build custom agents against Box content using OpenAI's tools.

The integration is generally available today for all Box customers, with OpenAI rolling out access to ChatGPT's paid-tier users over the coming days — another sign of foundation-model providers racing to embed themselves directly into the enterprise software people already use, rather than asking companies to migrate their content elsewhere.
